Blue and White Transferware Tile of a Dog by AETCO
A blue and white portrait tile of a terrier dog made by the American Encaustic Tile Company AETCO of Zanesville Ohio in the late 19th century. The breed looks like a Norwich Terrier, its perky expressive face is centered in a beaded round frame. Measures 6 inch square. The transferware tile's surface remains shiny with some crazing and scattered flecks around the perimeter. The back is clearly marked.
