English Cottage Tile by Muresque

A beautiful California Arts and Crafts era tile by Muresque (1925-1934) of Oakland California. The tile is pictured in its catalog as "no. 81 English Cottage 6" x 6" and is colored in soft engobe glazes like its competitor Claycraft. There is a thatch roofed  English cottage under a tree. A walkway passes through billowing shrubbery to a gated fence. It is all done in intricate detail and craftsmanship. The tile measures 5 7/8" square and 3/4" thick. Unsigned and never set it remains in excellent condition.
