Flint Faience Tile Taurus Zodiac Milk From a Bull

An Art Deco tile by Flint Faience of Flint Michigan. The whimsical zodiac design series is inspired by Mayan characters. This hand decorated tubelined image is for the zodiac sign of Taurus (Apr 20-May 20) and shows the character holding a milk bucket and stool while scratching his head and wondering why he can't get milk from the bull. Measures 4 1/4" x 4 1/4" x 1/2". Excellent condition. Remnants of adhesive. Impressed mark. A 6 inch version is also available on BungalowBILL.

This zodiac series was designed by Howard Burton (1881-1950) Art Director and Architect for Flint Faience. A set of these was displayed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 1928.
