Rookwood Pottery Elephant Tile Paperweight 1913
Rookwood Pottery Asian elephant tile paperweight dated 1913. Nice matte brown glaze with green accents. Small colored in nick on top edge. Grinding to bottom corner. Factory impressed hole so it can be hung on the wall. Measures 3 3/4" square and 5/8" thick. Retains label from its purchase at the Cincinnati Art Galleries Auction, now called Humler Nolan. This sold for $540 in 2005.

"Tile showing an elephant, 3 3/4 inches square, cast at Rookwood in 1913 and covered with a brown mat glaze with green overspray. Marked with the Pottery symbol, the date and shape 2054. An early example, there is a hole cast into the back to facilitate hanging. Uncrazed."
