Wheatley Pottery Faience Tile of a Camel, Framed
Here is a nice vintage Arts and Crafts era tile from Wheatley Pottery (1903-1927) of Cincinnati Ohio. The faience tile is molded in an image of a camel. The high relief was rendered to look as if the tile was hand carved. It measures 6" square and 3/4" thick. It is pictured in the company's catalog Modeled Inserts, stock number 1306. The back of the tile has 1306 incised into the clay. Other than some chips on the back, the front of the tile is in excellent condition. The tile has been framed in a wide wood frame in a deep red-brown finish. Overall it measures 12" square and ready to hang on your wall.
