Tile Panel of Wisteria Flowers c.1900 by Le Glaive
Made in Belgium around 1900 this original Art Nouveau tile panel depicts wisteria blossoms. It measures 24" tall and 30" wide and consists of twenty 6" square tiles. It was rendered in a labor intensive squeezebag technique where the design's outline is hand drawn onto the tile in slip and glaze. Originally this would have been installed into a garden room and this design would have encircled the room at ceiling height. Imagine how impressive that room must have been. Now this panel can be mounted and framed, or installed and trimmed so as to act like view from a window. Have the beauty of wisteria with none of its maintenance. The condition of the panel is very good. It was reclaimed and has traces of mortar on the back and some scattered edge flakes. The backs are marked "LE GLAIVE."
