Architectural Tile Roundel of a Dolphin By AETCO

This architectural tile roundel has a molded image of a dolphin or sea serpent in a beige glaze with a microcrystalline blue background. It measures 8 3/4" in diameter and about 1" thick. The edges are mostly glazed to facilitate a face mount. Unused, it is in very good original condition with a few flakes, mostly around the edges. Unsigned, but made by the American Encaustic Tile Company of Zanesville Ohio around 1920.
