Feature Tile of Nesting Birds from the English Aesthetic Movement

$ 525.00
This antique English tile from the late 19th Century could have been part of an important fireplace design or other installation. Rendered in a combination of pressed design and raised molding, the family of blue headed birds nesting in the branches seem to pop from the front of the tile. The border has an impressed design, mimicking the chip carving of the Eastlake Movement. The tile measures 6" tall, 12" wide, and 3/8" thick. The back is unsigned. The condition is unused and very good with a shiny surface. There is a scrape under the branch under the nest and a ding to the wing of the bird sitting on the nest.

A wonderful piece representing family that would be great whether framed or installed.
