Framed Tile of a Sailboat at the Shoreline
This pretty antique tile was made around 1910 in England. It depicts a sailboat near the shoreline and is covered in a pale aqua glaze. Made in the intaglio process the image is pressed into the tile and while in kiln the glaze pools into the recesses giving the image depth. The tile measures 6" square. Framed it measures 7 3/4" square. The tile is unmarked. There is some roughness around the edges, hidden by the frame.
